Cannonau is a red wine from Sardinia, developed in small oak barrels. It is characterized by an intense aroma, a warm, round and balanced taste.
At the beginning of last century Argiolas family started their own wine production, keen to gain quality products. Vintage after vintage, from parents to children, tradition was handed down. Now Argiolas is represented by the third generation.
Production area is in Campidano plain, northern from Cagliari, where Soil is formed by limestone, clayey elements, medium mixture tending to loose, small and medium-sized pebbles.
Grape variety is Cannonau, typically Sardinian as the final "u" is present in many names through this beautiful island. Fermentation and maceration at controlled temperature of 28-30 °C for about 10- 12 days. Malolactic fermentation in concrete glass-lined tanks and development in small oak casks for 8-10 months. Brief refining in the bottle. Intense ruby red at sight with garnet tinges. Fragrance is intensely vinous, typical of Cannonau. Taste is warm, well-rounded, well structured and excellently balanced. Serving temperature is of 16-18 °C. We recommend to serve along first courses with tasty condiments, roast suckling pig and lamb, Sardinian pecorino cheese, medium or long matured.
